“Oh, what’s that, I’m to weak to fight you at my current level. That’s OK! I’ll just go back and grind some more.”
“Nope, can’t do that!”

“Because after you enter my cave of doom, you can’t get back out, therefore, you have to load a saved game from before that point.”
“But I saved a couple of times during the cave of doom! And you know I only use one save spot!”
“Well, looks like you’ll have to either try in vain to beat me at your current level, or restart the game!”

No epic boss transformation after taking some damage so it doesn’t follow the generic rpg. Final bosses always come in two forms.
Still, flash made me happy after spending 30 minutes trying to beat Sanae. I wish I didn’t suck at touhou games. MoF especially. All other ones I can beat on normal without continues and hard with except MoF. Can’t even beat normal -_-
The party did not live long enough to do the required amount of damage to trigger the second form!
Touché. Plus I don’t think I want to see a transformation to a hideous abomination or an angelic figure. Another rule for rpg final bosses. You must be one or the other. God I miss you Kefka
At least they saved, and what did they expect after running away from the first cat? They should have used Nip3.5 which allows you to tame wild cats and thus become invincible for 3 turns plus an extra number of turns equal to cat’s Awesome stat.

Also, the five defense did nothing to help, why?

Is it only me who thought that there might be a sudden twist when you reach the boss? The wizard who started your quest ends up taking off the beard and revealing themself to be in fact Marisa, who you end up having to survive Master/FINAL Spark attacks from?
Hahaha! That’s why I hate RPGs… Evil Bad Guy (c) is either gay, always casts the same crap 9999 damage with different name (call it Ultima, Gaia, Armageddon, Ragnarok or whatever, always inspired on some sort of mythology) Well, shooters have this thing of the True-True Last Boss of the Final Archi-Last Boss. Mushihime-sama comes to my mind.
Now, Ether Vapor has one seriously epic final boss (angelic-like wings included! =P)
If anyone has enough will, check ChoRenSha 68k… All I can say is: Mega mega mega mega mega mega mega mega!

Remind me of one of the chapter of YuGiOh comic book I read long time ago. About how the protagonists were complaining that TRPG they are playing is “rigged” that they can’t defeat final boss when they are lv 1.
Or Haruhi complaining how RPG have to fight bunch of hench men at beginning and saying the heroes should face final boss as soon as game starts.(and it does happen in one of episodes that are even not include in novel. Lv 1 wizard Mikuru blew up Demon Lord’s castle with supposed “long-lost spell” earthquake and meteor shower while prince and princess they were supposed to rescue are still inside the castle.)
