Videos for June 28, 2009

Today’s videos post includes some more Gottsu playing music with Celtic instruments (this time it’s Marisa’s Love Colored Master Spark theme) and then UN Owen on guitar by this guy. And then some videos I didn’t feel like embedding in the full post.

  • #2 U.N. Owen in a relaxing tempo? Are such things legal?

#3 Hah! Nice use of ZUN art. But… where are their knees?

#4 That… wow. I never ever would have thought that something like that could work. What a bizarre combination, but somehow it clicks together nicely. Very impressive on a technical level, even though I’m not a rap fan.

  • Is it the same Gottsu that played Flan’s theme with those Celtic instruments? Love the music.

  • @2: It’s like “Flan on a tranquilizer”‘s theme. Really nice and peaceful.

@3: I’ve never heard an English dub of that song… it really kills the original meanings of a lot of lines in order to keep rhyming. =/

@4: It surprises me how good that gets as it progresses.

  • #1 gottsu’s arrange was sub-par for his standards IMO

#2 has a great taste in clothing

#3 I’ve never heard carrameldansen in english before

  • SoF- Right under their dresses.

    Anyways….

3; Only the Playables? Aww D: Oh, well. Still good.
4; ZOMG IT’S SO AWESOME, NOT EVEN AWESOME COULD DESCRIBE IT.

  • 1. Perhaps it’s because I haven’t heard more of Gottsu’s work, but I disagree with Old Warudo; I liked this quite a bit.

    2. Definitely unique among the numerous versions of “U.N. Owen” I’ve heard. Gives it an entirely different mood.

    3. Is it odd that this is the first video through which I actually heard the entire song, in English or otherwise? Caramell Memin’ aside, it still kinda weirds me out to see such accurate ZUN-style art not actually drawn by ZUN himself.

    4. Eh, I’m not really a rap fan, but it blends well enough. Actually, it seems to me the mix downplayed any actual melody in the rap portion, allowing to provide lyrics and rhythm while “Master Spark” provided the actual music.

  • 1. The instruments used make the music piece played higher than the original – do not try humming along, you’ll burst. Like me. ^_^

    2. The second one seems an amazing job at playing it. He is like a teeny tiny bit off some where in the beginning – after that, it’s a piece of heaven. Makes it also seem like I actually CAN beat Flandre.

    3. Caramelldansen. I see no knees. … I do like the quick shocked and sweatdrop as dancers are added.

    4. Rap. I hate rap. Stop turning it into Touhoe. … On the other hand, I only listened to about 0:45…

  • The Caramelldansen one was good for one, but i kinda expected some UFO character to pop up in the end :8

  • I rarely listen to rap music, but those Touhou rap music really allows me to enjoy such music. It’s so epic.

  • 1. Spiffy. I liked the bit where he took a sip of water (I’m assuming) in the lower corner during a pause in the flute-sections.

    2. Hmm … is this an older, more relaxed Flan?

    3. Okay, cute. You’ve translated it into English. Now do it in Japanese. (Hmm, it’s not “argh kill”-ing me as much as most song-dubs do …)

    4. Heh.

  • 1. It has an interesting feeling. The instruments gives it an air of medieval fantasy and fairy tale style, I don’t know how to explain it.

    2. Calming.

    3. I don’t like very much caramelldansen’s english version. It’s a little antiaesthetic.

    4. That was something a bit weird… Still, it’s a well-made arrange, and since I’m not likely to hate any music genre and the rap is one of my favourites, this did actuaqlly turn to be pretty nice to me. It’s better to listen to thinks with a more critic impartial ear to make them turn the better.

  • I get the feeling that #1 might have actually been closer to what ZUN was aiming for when he made Love Colored Master Spark than what he managed to produce due to the limitations of his synthesizer.

  • Looks like the Master Spark was so strong YouTube decided to remove it to protect its viewers. WHAT

  • Also, having Mr. Game&Watch there doesn’t make any sense
