Well, I spent some more time adding things to the Youmu platformer from two days ago. This version has moving enemies, a Myon that follows Youmu, bigger enemies, water, and a heart that replenishes 5 HP! Also, I increased the HP of the smaller FOEs so that you can’t kill them in one hit no matter how close you’re standing (that was intentional in the first version, though). Yeah! I still haven’t added a game over screen, so you still can’t die.

XD that was terapeutic… now, talking about the Youmu platformer… Youmu was standing in the very edge of the last screen, and when I hitted the space bar, Youmu was throwed at the very edge of the first screen and get hitted by a FOE
OMG! It’s very easy to go OVER 9000 by staying underwater!

“Story of Youmu’s adventure”
Tis another day that Yuyuko is hungry. She commanded youmu with a whining voice to make food for her. Youmu left to the kitchen only to see that there are no food whatsoever in the fridge. She yelled “Yuyuko-sama! where are all the food?! i just bought it yesterday!”
At a distance you can hear the crying ghost saying “Oh i ate those a second ago!” With a grumpy look, Youmu is now off in an epic adventure to find food that are dropped from F.O.E’s (ewww) and final boss is Mystia.

Woohoo! I made it to the last screen and all the way to the heart by only pressing the right and up arrows and holding them down!

I think that would mean that half of her brains are nonexistent. Evidently, because she knows only way to swing that sword.
@Third screen: Wild FOEs live in tall grass! You need a sword to protect yourself! :D
Also yay this version is way fun.
You should make it so that Youmu can backstep so that when fighting the bigger FOEs she won’t have to turn to the opposite direction all the time while moving backwards. Kinda like a small jump backwards.

Bigger FOE means bigger hitboxes!!! I can attack bigger ones when they’re near Youmu when she’s facing back.

I think it would be cool if you could use Myon to attack as well, like in IaMP and SWR. Although with the enemies as they are now, it might not be necessary.

You should make up enough different attacks so that you could make her do the Get Down dance by button-mashing! :3

that was awesome! I liked how you added “physics” into it by slowing down Youmu’s fall when she’s in the water. Though I did lol when her HP went down really fast. Good job!

@NoWaiThatsImpossible:O!: That’s exactly what I had planned for this when I first came up with the idea (Yuyuko wanting food, Youmu going out to find it, Mystia being the final boss). Also, your nickname is very relevant to what I just said.
@SinBag: Well I’d rather have it available for free online, and then there’s the fact that it isn’t actually up to par with other games that are sold at conventions (and it isn’t really even much of a game yet), and yeah.

There needs to be more grass to cut down. Youmu is a gardener after all.
The game over screen needs to show Youmu being moe (not that hard) and the text saying “Isn’t it sad Youmu? ;_;”

How about a focus movement button? I can imagine it would allow you to incorperate alot more different movement options like the one “No” suggested by adding another “Touhou” button.
What I had in mind:
Holding down shift while hitting left would backstep instead of turn/walk
Holding down shift while hitting right has alot of different, fun options. It could roll forwards, bypassing enemies (This allows for speed runs) but would probably have to be balanced with uneven terrain and fatter foe’s. Could also have a “Knockback” option with shift-forwards, this would lead to alot of more fun, active gameplay (Myon knockback hopefully, at the moment it just kind of chills there with you)
Shift up can be saved for whatever fun stuff you want to throw in the game. A pose, a spellcard, anything!
I’m really excited to see this platformer, I’m sure you can tell. Keep up the good work!
Smaller suggestion:
The jump attack should get its own animation! (An overhead, whatever) This simple addition really really makes a platformer more fun.
