Touhou Merchandise (3)

The sequel of the sequel! Today, a fairly large box (at least compared to the boxes I’m used to) came in the mail from Talka, containing some nifty gifts! Probably the most awesome would be the Miyako (from Hidamari Sketch) plush! Most of the stuff is event catalogues from various Touhou events (full of circle cuts and free space drawings).

There were also a bunch of keychains and file folders (along with a drawing someone made for me at Reitaisai back in March), chocolate with Flandre wrappers, Reimu and Sakuya figures, Grimoire of Marisa and Strange and Bright Nature Deity 1 (Talka actually sent the second one over a few months ago), and… blah, there’s so much stuff and I don’t really feel like explaining all of it.

I also ended up taking way more photos than I thought I was going to. Even took pictures of the bubble wrap and the box after I went through the stuff and removed the wrapping. Picture quality is pretty bad ’cause it’s just a cellphone camera, though. Anyhow, thanks again, Talka!! (If my calculations are correct, Parsee will probably arrive soon with her jealousy)

  • So much cool stuff. I didn’t even know they made Miyako plushes.

  • omgs huge directory full of cool stuff.

  • Expect Parsee to come by at around Christmas time, for she shall be carting away your Christmas tree.

Ahh, such nice things in the mail. Oh, yeah, and the fact that it was sent in bubble wrap shows that Talka really cares, I mean REALLY, because bubble wrap is the absolute best. Also- wait what yukkuri patchouli (i have actually never seen one of those before) (i bet she reads green eggs and easy in her spare time)

  • …Oh, wait, maybe that IS regular Patchouli. There’s like, blush, halfway up, so I thought that was a mouth, and mistook her deformed face for a Yukkuri. She’s still a massive Dr. Seuss fan, though.

  • Is the Flandre chocolate filled with blood?

  • @ Akiraita:
On that note, which doujin is it that makes the Patchy-reading-Dr. Seuss joke? I keep forgetting to ask, but you just reminded me of it.

  • Did someone say chocolate?

  • *nearly dying of Jealousy* badly Marisa of Grimoire want I…

    Aah, I’m speaking backwards.

  • @G and Astarael: Chocolate? Chocolate!? CHOCOLATE!! CHOCOLAAAAATE!!!

BTW, I loved the chibi Magical Maid Sakuya figure <3

  • Suddenly, I have a hunch that Magical Sakuya would be included sometime…

…DARGH! Me and my wanting alternate (fanon) costumes included!

  • I don’t know what to say. Other than I’m jealous. It’s my jealousy not Parsee’s.

  • Aww, man, you got BUBBLE WRAP…

Actually, though I’d love to have just about any and all of that myself, what piqued my attention the most was the catalog spot illo someone did using Ikubi Akius and Cirno-Suika. Don’t suppose you could get a clearer image of that somehow? Maybe borrow the use of a scanner for the purpose?

The stuffed Miyako is both amusing and disturbing. It’s very like your art style, of course, and very cute, but the translation to a 3D object is still…weird somehow.

The bookmark was something a bit unexpected among all the actual books. (The big surprise would’ve been the chocolate, if you hadn’t already mentioned it.)

You should also offer a version of your booth-ad illo for “Ray-tie-sigh 6” online, I say. (Or if you’ve done so, I missed it.)

Oh—FYI, I re-sent the “re-send” version of my e-mail to ZUN in the hopes that he’ll be able to answer by now about permission for your shirts…

    Heh…Weekly Bun-Bunmaru.

  • Magical Sakuya should be added into create.swf. (along with tori)

  • I have walked into the green lands of Parulopolis; but my plushie makes me more invulnerable than Superman with an adamant armor in a mattress store.

I feel like the Miyako plush made KirbyM happier than the NINTENDO SIXTY FOUR kid.

Ah, I see you make her sit using masking tape… and doing it wrong. That’s not the correct way of using tape, KirbyM! It’s just the funner one!

Magical☆Sakuya-chan carrying a サーセン box. Hmm.

    @Arlekin:
    CHOCOLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE!! (#屮゚Д゚)屮

I’d like to buy all your chocolate, KirbyM ( ゚∀゚)つ[100,000]

  • @Sprocket: Regarding your questionings about Ikubi Akius, this post should answer them.

And I thought it was the other way around and KirbyM style looks like Hidamari Sketch.

  • Lol did you actually get any of the games? Gosh they’re like the most important thing.

  • Oh, finally. I’ve stuffed too many things in it that it cost like $70 (Express Mail) just for the shipping. xD Could’ve used SAL or something, but I’ve already delayed shipping the parcel for so long; I wanted it to arrive before summer ended.

The catalog with Cirno and Suwako on the cover is the one that had Ikubi Akius in it. (I stuck a post-it on that page.)

One of the persons in the Aki Sisters Project was actually involved in that event and handed me the catalog to send to you.

  • “you are likely to be eaten by a green eyed monster”

    if you want someone to translate the japanese text for you….mail them all over here to me…. ^_^;

what i most envy is that maroon/olive striped sheets cover and your cell phone that has a working camera in it… grrr

  • @Fubu72, Talka:
And thus did I allow for the possibility that the image might already have been posted. Apparently, it happened before I began following the blog that closely. Hmm…translation’s a bit off, but it gets the idea across.

I like how the artist (Satoru or Satoshi Ariga, if I’m reading it right) copyrighted the characters to walfas.org and even took the time to include proper text on the I.D.

  • I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s insanely jealous.

    CHOCOLATE. D:

  • @Sprocket: Here’s a clearer image of it! And yet somehow I still don’t think ZUN’s going to notice another email in his inbox… but I guess lowered expectations means it’ll be much more awesome if it does actually get a response!

@Fubu72: That’s drafting tape, not masking tape (but they look quite similar)! And I was sorta using it as a sort of Miyako hula hoop or inner tube or something, because it looked cool! She can sit without one, though she has to be against a vertical surface of some sort… so it’s more like leaning. I dunno. And I don’t know when (if ever) I’ll eat the chocolate, because once I eat it, it’ll be gone! And that’s no good.

@Squidgy: Nope. But I fail at the games anyway, so that’s fine.

@Talka: Coincidentally (or maybe not coincidentally?) the first package I got from you was also around this time last year! I remember it being right before school started, just like now! And also yeah, Arugha Satoru told me he was going to send something to me somehow, though I didn’t know it was going to be that (though I probably could’ve guessed).

  • @Fubu72: “but my plushie makes me more invulnerable than Superman with an adamant armor in a mattress store.”
If we combine the win of both of our plushies, we can survive the onslaught of any Touhou Merchandise post without even getting close enough to read the “Welcome to Parulopolis” sign!

  • @KirbyM: “That’s drafting tape, not masking tape” OH WELL THEN IT’S ALL RIGHT!

Oh, and I thought you could at least play the fighters; which gave me the idea that Hisoutensoku would have been okay.

    @SomethingUnreal: YEAH! ☆:.゚.・( ゚∀゚)人(゚∀゚ )・.゚.:☆

Unless our canine and soft kryptonite appears!

  • *stares at the Grimoire of Marisa* Ze…. ;_;

  • @Fubu72: OMG Fumofumo Inu Sakuya, what is this I don’t even. I wonder what that “‘Private Square’ edition” has which the regular (?) edition doesn’t.

Well… Remi needs a dog, so… OH GOD I NEED TO TAKE HER HOME. >_<

  • @SomethingUnreal: Psst, youcansearchformorethanthatoneyouknow you just need the money and someone who can buy it for you and send it.

Out of the two, I’m missing the first one for the moment (;∀;)

    OH MY GOD! CASNADIAN DESTROYER!
    PARANOIAAAAA( ゚Д゚)AAAAAA

Once in my possession, I’ll be stronger than the Cheetahmen.

    Cheetahman♪ I am I am♪ A cheetah♪ Cheetahman♪ I am I am♪

The contents of this reply might have or might have not been induced by the fact that I haven’t slept in 25 hours but it’s very unlikely ともーじゃん?

  • I’ll need lotsa wool…

Hah, I have 100 dolars that I’ll use it for buy My Flandre Plush

  • If only I had that Miyako plush…

  • @Fubu72: Sucks that I don’t know anyone in Japan, then. orz
Perhaps I should just wait until I have enough money to fly there, buy it (I probably won’t have any money left for anything else -_-; ) and then fly back.

I have searched for (and found) others on eBay, but meh… I’m more of an SDM person.
*Will wait for someone to sell it on eBay for double the price because that’s still cheaper than flying to Japan*

  • @SomethingUnreal: Well, the person who sold me my plushie told me to contact him/her if I wanted to buy anything else from Japan, so that’s it (and was an awesome seller because he/she sent me a handwritten letter and a GUNDAM keychain).

I don’t think InuSakuya is made by GIFT but some other group ANGELTYPE hired to do the job and sell in certain event (I think more than once). I just haven’t ever seen her on eBay so I don’t thin… OH MAN, that was unexpected.

DO YOU WANT IT? IT’S YOURS MY FRIEND, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ENOUGH RUPEES.

By tomorrow. Because it will possibly go up to 100 dollars/70 euros.

  • Judging that an ordinary Sakuya plush (on an eBay auction a couple of months ago) went for over 130 USD, it’s pretty unlikely that I’ll be able to get Inu Sakuya at whatever price she will eventually inevitably soar to. >< It’s painful to think about, honestly.

Still, awesome work finding that item. I had been searching for things like “fumofumo” before, so I hadn’t seen it.

  • Two years later…
Sorry to bother you with this so late, but is the Miyako doll from Comiket too?

  • Man, I’m so jealous now! I WANT.
W-what? No, I’m not Parsee’s sister! *nervous laughing* Nope, hehe, w-we’re not related or anything. *more nervous lauging*

  • Yippie yo yo…

KirbyM, (although it may be too late)
you do realize there’s also Yuno, Hiro, Sae, Ume-sensei, Nori, Nazuna, and Yoshinoya plushies too(although the last one’s not for sale as far as I can research)

if you want proof, google “ひだまりスケッチ ぬいぐるみ”

    and to Sprocket
plushie 3D is NOT weird, in fact, I would love to see Ume Aoki (or you KirbyM) try making puppets in Hidamari Sketch-style!

  • @GreyGraffiti:
I didn’t mean the concept itself was weird, just that the transition of the Hidamari Sketch character style specifically into a physical 3D form looked weird to me.
